Bobby 04:22
We love the ones we hurt the most Why is it all my stupid fault? Bobby, can you hear the voices Are they talking to you still? Telling you now what you wanted hear When presidents lied, when the world stood still Can you hear them? Bobby is it too much trouble
Just to look the other way? Bobby can you see their faces
Do you know what they think? Can you hear what they say?
Can you hear them? We love the ones we hurt the most Why is it all my stupid fault? Why is it now We always keep it locked inside? Bobby was it absolution Are you feeling kinda proud? Bobby did I ever tell you That you talk too much
And you talk too loud? Can you hear me?
We love the ones we hurt the most Why is it all my stupid fault? Why is it now We always keep it locked inside?
There’s no need to apologise The answer’s right there in your eyes Always… always… We love the ones we hurt the most Why is it all my stupid fault? We love the ones we hurt the most Why is it all my stupid fault? Why is it now We always keep it locked inside? Why is it now We always keep it locked inside? Why is it now We always keep it locked inside? Inside

End of the day, out walking I can see in your eyes, no more tears tonight You looked so alive, the world so far away I took your hand, showed you the way Didn't I say, you were everything I'd ever known? Didn't I say, pretty lies at the end of the phone? They all came undone in the last of the burning sun In the afterglow Didn't I say, don't let me go off on one? You know I get high on the sound of my voice All those silly words that vanished with the morning dew What would you say if they were true? Didn't I say, you were everything I'd ever known? Didn't I say, pretty lies at the end of the phone? I couldn’t see, caught in the mystery Of the afterglow Didn't I say, you were everything I'd ever known? Didn't I say, pretty lies at the end of the phone? What did you find? What did you leave behind in the afterglow? The afterglow In the afterglow

Eleven Eight 04:06
Couldn’t sleep last night My legs restless as a train Those memories in my head Spinning round and round again Go your own way Go your own way Skinned my knees in the park Didn’t feel a thing But that night I saw the blood stain Made me howl at the wind Go your own way Go your own way Was it the time of my life Or the whiff of a scent? All I ask for is my innocence For the beginning of the end Go your own way Go your own way I heard what you said As I drifted on the tide But I can’t breathe promises Like “see you on the other side” Go your own way Go your own way Now the mystery fades As time slips and bends Everyone I’ve ever known Becomes you in the end Go my own way Go my own way

Just when I thought it had stopped, it had only begun That darkness that comes in the night won’t be undone The heart is a muscle, it’s been wasting away for too long 29,000 days in a heartbeat or eternity lost in a song Meet me in Beijing Because this is the thing I’ve seen the future And I think it might suit ya Meet me in Giza Where the centuries disappear Those pyramids speak to me In a language I need to hear All that jazz won’t get you down All that jazz won’t get you a second chance Meet me in Highgate Where there’s beauty in being late There a peace for the restful And the last word in tempting fate Meet me in Brooklyn There's a sight makes my soul sing Take the bridge back to Gotham Either way you’ve just got to run All that jazz won’t get you down All that jazz won’t get you a second chance So meet me in Dover I’ll tell you over and over It’s not what you say It’s what sits in your heart Meet me in the spring When the world it is born again I’ll meet you anywhere Just say the word and I’ll be there Because these are the days This is the time I’d meet you anywhere Your place or mine? Just when I thought it had stopped, it had only begun
5.
Home… home… If I could have seen you on another day Another place, hiding away Maybe then it wouldn’t be so hard to take Your honesty was your first mistake You don’t know about me I’m not sure about you If you could have held me in different way It’s the little things that give you away Don’t want to be an actor in some tired old play Is there nothing new in this world today? You don’t know about me I’m not sure about you So maybe You and I, we’re going to stay out Take the last train home Singing songs about how everyone was easy in the end Except you If I had the courage to believe my eyes Lift them up; see the sky Maybe then I wouldn’t have to curse and say In a half-assed world, it’s a half-assed day You don’t know about me I’m not sure about you So maybe You and I, we’re going to stay out Take the last train home Singing songs about how everyone was easy in the end Except you Except you Home… home… home…

Pretty is as pretty does Taught me everything I know about love
I must have been out of my lazy mind At the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line Sounded fine Camouflage fits you like a glove Wear your compassion on the outside, love I could have been someone who gave a damn
At the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line Sounded fine I don’t care what you do, what you say when you’re halfway cooked Wrong people, wrong time it’s a wonder that you ever did Put you and me back together again Oh at the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line
I crossed yours; you crossed mine
The pity is that pity’s done When it came to find me I was overrun I must have been out of my lazy mind At the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line All the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line It sounded fine I don’t care what you do, what you say when you’re halfway cooked Wrong people, wrong time it’s a wonder that you ever did Put you and me back together again Oh at the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line All the time, the time, the time The line, the line, the line
I crossed yours; you crossed mine You crossed mine

If your photographs aren't good enough You're not close enough If the words aren't the ones that they said They'll never be enough You used to call it your reason, your inspiration That Capa hanging over your bed Go ask that woman when they shaved her head About dignity and being bad
They always made you smile with their guile
But you never thought you'd be one of them All those tricks, supercilious pricks Now you don't even trust your own friends
Oh! How did you get so cold inside? Oh!
When did you get so lost, so tired? Did you see yourself there on the lawn Sipping margaritas with Bob and Carl? While The Post beat a path to the door Of the last Englishman out of Vietnam? Now you make up words they never said But you knew they would if they'd thought of them Next day they're lying there on the page And you can hardly hide your disappointment
Oh! How did you get so cold inside? Oh!
When did you get so lost, so tired? If your photographs aren't good enough
You're not close enough
8.
Can I? Can I escape this feeling? Too blind to see Don't have the imagination
A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart High ideals They come to find me While I’m asleep And stop my hands from shaking A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart And all I see is a hole in the place where you used to be And all for me I'm scared of the open door right in front of me These walls
If they could talk they’d whisper "You’re not alone" They’d ask me when I’m leaving A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart
And all I see is a hole in the place where you used to be And all for me I'm scared of the open door right in front of me What if I only wanted you To lie to me? Procrastination kills me A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart A thousand deadly deeds and a brave heart
9.
I can't recall The way it played out I think I must have gone too far We were standing Barely standing Words just came tumbling out Would you like to hear me Say I will always need you? Would you die to hear me Say I'll be there to greet you? You're not alone Say something Say something Say something now Say something Say something Say something now I can't recall What we did to get so So lonely before our time Now there's nothing to hold me But the chill in my veins And the feeling that I've been here before Would you like to hear me Say I will always need you? Would you die to hear me Say I'll be there to greet you? Or would you settle for the truth? Say something Say something Say something now Say something Say something Say something now Say something Say something Say something now Say something Say something Say something now
10.
If I told you you’re the chosen one If I told you, you and I belong Maybe it would be
The start of you and me You had your chance there on the mezzanine Anything more obvious would have been obscene Found your courage in a glass Just as the moment passed You’re the same as me We’re just floating on the breeze Can you see us falling free? Can you see us fluttering? Were you searching for another me? How quickly love became necessity Now you taste like lemonade Oh, the kind I never made You’re the same as me We’re just floating on the breeze Can you see us falling free? Can you see us fluttering? Oooh,
You take me high up in the trees But the first thing that you gave me Was the last thing that I need You’re the same as me We’re just floating on the breeze Can you see us falling free? Can you see us fluttering? You’re the same as me We’re just floating on the breeze Can you see us falling free? Can you see us fluttering? It's easy in the end Never take a chance, you can't win But you can’t help wondering So you pour another one You’re the same as me We’re just floating on the breeze Can you see us falling free? Can you see us fluttering?

Well it’s almost done That physical thing Hanging out with someone Oh it’s so damn good to be here It’s not easy this way Or everyone would be here slipping away While I watched you sleep You showed me all your secrets, all your better lies You are the lonely water That runs through my burning veins You are the wind that chills me And blows all my heartache away Well the view from our house It’s etched on your heart Hanging out the skylight just to feel a little rain upon your face Got to make it real Had to catch your feet to stop you flying away You are the sleep that finds me When I’m chasing the break of day You are the pill that calms me When I’m rockin’ and rolling away You’re the curious one Was that the first time that you knew The price of it all Yeah, and the value too? It was all I had It was all I need It was all that it was It was almost everything I owned You are the sin that leaves me Though I’ve never believed at all You are the song that fills me With music I don’t understand I don’t understand I don’t understand Oh, I don’t understand Oh, I don’t understand Oh, I don’t understand Oh, I don’t understand Oh, I don’t understand

Last Word 05:08
If this is was my last day I’d thank you all and say “All memories are behind me now Whatever’s left must be left out” If this was my last word It would be to you It would be “I do” Ooh lazy days, lazy days Gonna do what I, do what I say, ooh ooh Do what I, do what I say, ooh ooh         I don’t know much of anything But when I travel round I’m drawn to what you might call holy ground Temples, churches, mosques, pagodas And paintings of the saints and virgin But gods, spirits, priests They do not speak to me So I’ve never sought salvation on cathedral walls Just beauty bound by stucco and paint It’s the human mind I want to celebrate Ooh lazy days, lazy days Gonna do what I, do what I say, ooh ooh Do what I, do what I say, ooh ooh So keep your gods. all your angels, All your mystical, magical inventions I just don’t believe Any dogma, any creed But I’m looking forward to the day When I’ll raise a glass with soulmates Mac and Jon With Carole and mum Round the table at the back there by the snug In the tap room of the Great Halls of Valhalla Ooh lazy days, lazy days I’m gonna be in your, be in you in your dreams, ooh ooh As long as you, as long as you want Then move on

All tracks written (words and music) and produced by Boo Sutcliffe.
Mixed and mastered by Carl Rosamond

The album Eleven Eight features some new tracks, including “Last Word” which I only finished writing shortly before physical production of the album began. In fact, the lyrics were only completed the day before we started recording them.

Eleven Eight also includes a couple of older but previously unreleased tracks, like “Bobby”, which has long been a live favourite, as well as songs from the 2021 EP You’re the Same as Me. In addition, there are re-imaginings of three songs from the Blink album. “Almost Done (v23)” and “Afterglow (v23)” now have delicious backing vocals by Claire Helm and new bass parts by Steve Robinson, as well as whole new mixes. “Afterglow (v23)” also features Andy Wright on viola; Normally a violin player, Andy had to go out and buy a viola – and learn how to play it – specially to record the track. He came through it all with flying colours and the viola really adds a lot to the sound and feel of the track.

“Meet Me in…(v23)” was completely re-recorded in a very different style. Pete Askew helped immensely by recording the steel-string acoustic, my vocal and the violin part at his Posh Croc Studios and Andy Wright put together a superb string quartet arrangement. Corey Clough-Howard added a very sympathetic bass part that really helps the song move along while bringing out a lot of the nuance in the chord sequences and melodies. While I enjoyed the big orchestrated sound of the Blink version, I wanted something with a much more intimate, acoustic feel for this one and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

The front cover of Eleven Eight features a specially commissioned portrait of me by artist Jacquie Hughes. I love what she came up with – I'm always amazed by how much Jacquie achieves with so few lines and such simple compositions – and I’m very grateful to her for shining her talent on my project.

The vinyl and CD packages were designed by my good friend Gary Fenton.
